What is Kaaryah?

Launched in September 2013 by Founder & CEO Nidhi Agarwal, Gurgaon-based Kaaryah is a fashion portal for women’s wear that focuses on providing the best possible fit with 18 sizes. The startup caters to women’s non-casual wear – it means everything causal that is not jeans and t-shirts. It already has a presence across online marketplaces and also services through Kaaryah.com.

“It is the only brand, globally, that offers western wear in 18 sizes, compared to a global average of 12-13 sizes,” said Nidhi Agarwal.

“The brand introduces 150 new designs every month; its catalog of shirts, trousers & skirts for women is larger than any Indian or International brand’s offering,” she added.

Nidhi is a certified Chartered Accountant from KPMG and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. She has 15+ years of experience in Strategy, New Technology Marketing and Finance. Before launching KAARYAH, Nidhi was the Director, Strategy at Honeywell India and has also worked as a Strategy Consultant at Bain&Co. Prior to Bain&Co she worked with Bharti Airtel where she developed and launched Indian mCommerce product.

How the idea came to start Kaaryah?

Kaaryah was born when Nidhi realized that something as basic as a well fit western wear for Indian women was hard to find. Sizing in most brands is limited to about 12 sizes and they vary only in terms of width. After a year and a half of product and market research focusing on challenges with the current set of options available, Nidhi realized this was a problem that many Indian women across age groups faced. Being a problem solver, she decided to find a solution and hence Kaaryah was born.

What does it do? How does it work?

Kaaryah caters to women’s non-casual wear by offering the best possible fit with its 18 sizes. It offers wardrobe solutions that help discover not just the perfect fit but also what flatters different body types. The startup uses a “What’s my Size” algorithm that promises up to 85 percent accuracy in sizing. The clothes are competitively priced and absolutely no compromise is made on fabric material.

“The brand introduces 150 new designs every month; its catalogue of shirts, trousers & skirts for women is larger than any Indian or International brand’s offering,” added Nidhi.

How is it different from any other startup in similar space?

As a corporate woman with a busy lifestyle herself, Nidhi understood the importance of well fitted, functional, feminine and fashion-forward western formal wear. There was a large unmet need for these across age groups, no matter what their occupation was. She therefore focused on bridging the gap between western formals and the Indian silhouette – its perfect fit and a variety to choose from!

Kaaryah is a one of its kind apparel brand that understands the Indian woman and her physique. While apparel isn’t a new space and has several players co-existing, Kaaryah is unmatched because of its specific focus. No apparel manufacturer in India has the variety and sizing that Kaaryah offers in the non-casual/formal western wear segment for women.

How has the response been till now since the launch of the startup?

Since its inception, Kaaryah have grown month-on-month and has shipped orders not just to metros but also internationally and to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Funding raised till now

Ratan Tata has taken a minority stake in Kaaryah. The company has also secured funding from another industry stalwart (which is yet to be announced). “We are unable to disclose the quantum of funds,” said Nidhi.

What is Kaaryah’s monitization plan?

The startup retails on Kaaryah.com and is present on all major online marketplaces. A customer can login to the website and look through the catalogue to select designs and go to the ‘What’s my size’ section to give some basic measurements. After receiving an order, the order is dispatched within 2 working days.

The company believes in a lean inventory system. This model has proven to be extremely scalabe as the brand has serviced order loads of 4X Just-In-Time with up to 60% same day fulfillment. Many brands offer limited sizes due to inventory turn around time; Kaaryah decided to circumvent the inventory load by making once the order is received thus making for a better working capital investment.

Who are its target buyers?

Typically, the startups’s target buyers are Indian women with very busy lifestyles. KAARYAH as a brand understands Indian women and the clothes are designed keeping her busy lifestyle in mind. Comfort is a key feature of Kaaryah products along with solutions to problem areas like gaping shirts and unflattering trouser cuts.

What challenges is the startup facing? What has been the biggest challenge in expanding?

Initially the biggest challenge was funding. Like most startups, it faced problems like hiring. It’s important to find the right talent for a organization, while the startup have been lucky on that front with Kaaryah’s core team. “As the company expands and we see larger traction we have to hire more people and sourcing to the right people is key,” the company said in a statement.

Future plans &scope

The startup plan to establish Kaaryah as the largest brand for perfect fit western wear for Indian women. The Indian market for Kaaryah (western non-casual wear for women) is estimated to be Rs.10,000-15,000 crore and is poised double growth in the next 3-4 years.

“We belive that much can be achieved with a sharp focus and honestly of efforts. Our vision is clear – we will aim to be a significant brand for best fit western non-causal wear for Indian women,” asserts Nidhi.

“As of now Kaaryah is an unmatched apparel brand with no real competitors as we are very focused in what we cater. We have the widest catalogue in non-casual/formal wear for women and offer more sizes than any women’s brand in the world. Our personalized investment in the end customers sets us apart from other brands in the clothing sector. We evolve our catalogue on the basis of customer voice and feedback.”

Yuvraj Singh-funded YouWeCan Ventures has made an undisclosed investment in JetSetGo, a marketplace for private jets and helicopters.

Co-founded by Kanika Tekriwal and Sudheer Perla in 2014, this is the first round of funding that the company has raised.

JetSetGo provides charter customers choice, transparency and flexibility to book a private jet online.Private aviation comprises less than 15 per cent of air traffic in Indian skies, TheTradeBoss Reported.

In a country with over 200 functional airstrips and less than 40 per cent of this connected by commercial airlines, the scope for growth in private aviation for Tier II and III city connectivity is tremendous, the company said.

“Our clientele not only comprise corporate houses, sports personalities, celebrities or HNIs but also those who see value in quick and easy connectivity to locations still not served by commercial airlines,” Perla said.

The investment shows the value JetSetGo is adding, as only a customer can understand the bottlenecks the company is removing and the market it is opening up, he added.

karan bhalla, Karan Bhalla PMO, Karan Bhalla Encompass, karan bhalla arrest, karan bhalla fraud, karan bhalla cheating, karan bhalla CBI How to beat monsoon blues like a fashionista

Monsoon is here! While the first few days of monsoon are all about the smell of wet mud and a respite from the heat, very soon we tire of the relentless rain. Then, the dull dreary monsoon blues start making their way in. Damp clothes, frizzy hair and no heels!

Well, a fashionista can’t be bogged down by trivialities like this and so here is a quick guide for beating the monsoon blues:

1. Bring out the colours –
A sure shot way to brighten up your mood and of those around you is dressing up in bright colours. Get those yellows and oranges out girls. Even if you work in a formal corporate environment, incorporate some pop of colour by choosing a brighter top with your suit or a white tunic with a bright print.

2. Pop Up Accessories –
The great thing about accessories is that they can easily be carried in your bag so that you don’t bother with them in the rain and can be quickly worm once you reach your destination. Use them to add pops of colour and quirk to your with your outfit. The trick in monsoon is to pick accessories that won’t spoil if they do get wet. Oxidised and chunky silver is a big no. Enamelled stacked bangles, wooden necklaces and beads are a better option.

3. Wear platform shoes – If you love heels then platforms are your best friends in monsoon. If you are a flats lover, I would still advise trying out a pair of platform sandals with ankle straps on. These are comfortable to wear and the elevation will prevent your feet getting dirty unless you splash around in puddles!

4. Get Fun Monsoon Gear –
Gone are the days of black umbrellas and boxy raincoats. Buy a fun quirky print umbrella or a raincoat. The transparent raincoats are still a rage and a great way of showing off your colourful clothes too. Umbrellas are available in all manner of prints these days. Right from moustache to ladybugs to I love rain graffiti. That should add an element of fun to your sojourns in the rain.

5. Keep the makeup light and waterproof –
Needless to say, you don’t want the humidity or the water to wash it away. Skipping on sunscreen is not a good idea. I would recommend a gel liner and then a waterproof matte lip colour.

6. Buy Quick Dry Fabrics – Make friends with light mul tunics and georgette kurtis & dresses. Trust me, they will be your best friends when the sunshine is gone. Even if you get drenched in them, they won’t stick to your curves in an unflattering way and will dry easily. With these little tips, go ahead and enjoy the monsoon to the fullest!

karan bhalla, Karan Bhalla PMO, Karan Bhalla Encompass, karan bhalla arrest, karan bhalla fraud, karan bhalla cheating, karan bhalla CBI Tips For Stay Safe When File Sharing Online

One of the exciting things about the Internet is that it’s now very easy to send and receive information across the world at the touch of a button. However, this comes with its own challenges. Cybercrime is now a major threat.

In a world filled with cyber threats, how can we stay safe when sharing information online? Here are some steps you can take to keep your personal data safe.

Create secure passwords

The humble password is still the #1 sign-in method on the Internet, and in theory, it is a secure practice – so long as users choose strong passwords. But that’s often the problem.

According to the TheTradeBoss Report, two thirds of breaches occur as a result of unsecure passwords. To keep your online profiles as secure as possible when sharing information, your password needs to:

* Be unique to the account
* Be long, ideally containing more than 12 characters
* Incorporate a combination of numbers, characters and upper and lower case letters
* Not be a traditional word that can be found in the dictionary

Make the most of two-factor authentication

While a strong password is an important aspect of online security, it still comes with its own issues. Information can still be accessed and stolen by third parties. Two-factor (or two-step) authentication combines another layer of security with your password to protect your online accounts.

How does it work? A classic example of the two-factor authentication process is the adoption of card readers in online banking. Not only do customers need to remember specific user information in order to log in but they also need to enter information that can only be generated with an offline card reader. Many email providers, apps and social media sites now offer two-factor authentication.

Think of incorporating two-factor authentication as creating a super strong password. And if you’re using a platform that doesn’t use it, go elsewhere. For more information about two-factor authentication, check out the Two Steps Ahead campaign

Insist upon encryption

Encryption is the process of scrambling information so that only specific people can understand it. It helps protect your accounts because even if malevolent people manage to worm their way into your system and find specific files, they still won’t be able to make any sense of them. All they will see is encrypted mumbo jumbo – and only registered, trusted persons will have the “key” that’s necessary to turn it back into valuable information.

So, if you want your information to be completely safe when you’re sending it across the world, finding a provider that offers encryption as standard is paramount. While many will choose to communicate on social channels, the lack of encryption means that sending files (especially those with valuable or personal information) is simply too risky.

Don’t download what you don’t know

While you need to keep your information safe when you’re sending it to friends and connections, you also need to ensure you’re not hurt by things that are sent to you. Therefore, it’s important to only download information from trusted sources and to, “when in doubt, throw it out.”

Ignore all files that have been sent to you by people you don’t know or that look suspicious. As a rule, if something looks too good to be true (for example, if it describes a vacation that it claims you have won), it probably is.

Consider the security of any new software before downloading

One way to help you stay safe online is to ensure you only use trusted, secure software and online products.  If you’re considering installing a new program, ask the following questions:

* Does the vendor have a history of data breaches?
* Does it provide encryption when sending files?
* Does it use secure file transfer protocol?
* Does it offer the option of installing  two-step authentication?
* Is the company reviewed well online?

If you’ve found a vendor that takes the safety of your data seriously, then you’ll be going a long way toward staying safe online.

There are few fashion choices you can make that will divide the masses like a totally see-through shirt–whether it’s worn over a lacy bralette or subtly layered over a nude cami. Although anyone with a shred of style knows that a sheer shirt is how a fashion girl does skin-baring in summer the right way.

While the style certainly had its moment on the fall winter 2015/16 runways with slinky, sheer button-up shirts at Carven, and completely see-through styles at Narciso Rodriguez, bloggers aren’t waiting until next season to get started on the trend.

In fact, sheer shirts are fast becoming summer’s wardrobe MVP, replacing crop tops as the season’s most wanted–and yes, divisive–trend on outfit blogs, Instagram, and Pinterest. Take heed, because ahead we’ve spotted 10 fashion girls who know just how to style the look for the season ahead.

karan bhalla, Karan Bhalla PMO, Karan Bhalla Encompass, karan bhalla arrest, karan bhalla fraud, karan bhalla cheating, karan bhalla CBI True Cost Five Ways to an Ethical Wardrobe

As a new film, True Cost, about the moral and eco problems created by the fashion industry is released, here are some tips on cleaning up your sartorial conscience

A decade ago, I became obsessed with fashion. But rather than trend predictions or whether a Kardashian favours a Gladiator shoe/boot, it’s always been about the supply chain for me. Fashion is a full-spectrum industry, running from cotton bolls to catwalks and employing millions in a chain that runs through the lowest-waged economies on Earth, leaving a hulking eco footprint.

I found so many skeletons in fashion’s closet that I wrote a book to get it off my chest – To Die For: Is Fashion Wearing Out the World? Incredibly, the story got darker. On 24 April 2013, the Rana Plaza complex in Bangladesh collapsed, killing more than 1,100 workers producing clothes for a number of western brands. US documentary maker Andrew Morgan became hellbent on finding out how such work had become such a deadly activity. His film, True Cost (out 29 May), navigates the terrible cost of fashion today with help from Stella McCartney, myself and activist Vandana Shiva and Rana Plaza survivors. Here are five ways to avoid being part of the problem.

1. Only buy if you can commit to wearing the item at least 30 times

Fast fashion means clothes have become disposable. This and lower clothing prices have put the supply chain under unprecedented pressure, leading to outrages such as Rana Plaza and Tazreen (the 2012 Dhaka factory fire that killed more than 100).

2. Invest in trans-seasonal clothes

The traditional spring/summer autumn/winter of international fashion weeks is just for show. Up to 100 new micro-seasons a year is the new normal. So slow down your fashion cycle.

3. Spread your fashion pound around

The global fashion industry is worth $2.5tn. Shouldn’t this be shared? Look for producer-centric brands such as People Tree, which is run to rigorous Fairtrade standards with producers who get a fair share of the profits.

4. Detox your wardrobe

Fashion is reportedly the world’s second most polluting industry after oil. Notably, azo dyes are still the most used synthetic dyes, despite many of them being toxic. Ten percent of the world’s biggest brands have committed to phase out toxic substances through Greenpeace’s detox programme.

5. Join the fashion revolution

Be the change you want to see in your wardrobe (to paraphrase Gandhi). TheTradeBoss.Com represents millions of consumers who want change.

Technology’s role in sustainable fashion

We talk so much about the people aspect of ethical fashion. We talk about the artisans and the factory workers, the people who shop sustainably and the people who are just starting to learn more about the fashion revolution. And every great movement has started with people. But every great movement also needed technology to give it that extra push.

For more about the technology we use to ensure our materials are sustainable and ethically made, check out our dyeing process and learn more about our organic and natural fibers. Want to use technology to learn about the artisan who made your Indigenous clothing? Learn about our Fair Trace Tool.

The Finishing and Dye Process

yarn colored with low impact dyesIndigenous works hard to ensure that dyes that create our beautiful color palette and complement our natural fibers do not harm the planet. Our low-impact dyeing programs intend to eliminate harmful chemicals and waste, providing innumerable environmental and health benefits.

We make conscious decisions about the chemicals and substances we will use in the processing and dyeing stages of production.  Indigenous will not use processes or dyes that we feel will harm the planet, even if they are in mainstream use by the textile industry and available at a much cheaper cost.

The yarns and dyeing processes used by Indigenous are created within the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and the parameters of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100.   Adhering to these standards assures you that when you wear Indigenous clothes, you are wearing high fashion clothes that are made through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing processes for apparel made of properly handled organic materials.

As standards continue to evolve, we will continue to be active participants in numerous organic trade associations and certifying groups.  Indigenous is a recognized innovator and supporter of advancing legitimate, credible standards and accountability in organic and environmentally friendly production.

Indigenous excludes all of the following that we consider environmentally toxic:

  • Aromatic solvents
  • ChlorophenolsAll APEOs (i.e. nonylphenol, octylphenol, APEO-polymers)
  • Fluorocarbons (such as PFOS and PFOA)
  • Formaldehyde and other short-chain aldehydes
  • Genetically modified organisms of any sort (GMOs)
    Halogenated solvents
  • Heavy metals (except iron and low salt )
  • Plasticizers such as PAH, phthalates, bisphenol
  • Azo dyes and pigments that release carcinogenic arylamine
